Marketing Director Job Description

Title: Marketing Director

Reporting: Reports to the HCA Arts-Funding Organization Leadership (HCA, Playhouse Arts, NCRT, Centro Del Pueblo.)

Hours: 15 hours per week. Flexible hours, work from home, with some travel to arts and culture events required. Contract is for the period between May 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. Compensation is $18/hour.

Summary: The Marketing Director is responsible for all marketing and promoting of the HCA and its County-funded programs. The Marketing Director will create regular marketing via social media, email, and campaigns, maintaining a schedule for marketing materials and developing plans for larger marketing endeavors. The Marketing Director will coordinate and regularly meet with other HCA Grant-making Organizations, affiliate programs, and collaborators.

Job Responsibilities Include:

● Representing the HCA in regional media outlets, online platforms, and through internal campaigns.

● Work with other independent contractors hired by the HCA (photographers, writers, data-gatherers, videographers, etc) and disseminate their materials via HCA networks/platforms/media connections.

● Maintaining a current media contact list.

● Overseeing publicity and promotion for all activities of the HCA, its events, programs, and goals.

● Managing publications in multiple print and electronic formats; supervising design and production of collateral materials.

● Writing press releases and other promotional copy.

● Coordinating efforts with the HCA Arts-Funding Organization Leadership as needed.

● Producing regular mailing list communications.

● Coordinating marketing needs of HCA affiliated programs and projects.

● Interviewing artists, culture bearers, administrators, program participants, and community members when needed.

● Sharing strategies for marketing with people and programs supported through the HCA Arts-Funding Programs.

● Working with the HCA Arts-Funding Program staff and other independent contractors to create and maintain a positive public image for the HCA.

● Maintaining cordial and collegial relations with fellow independent contractors, staff of HCA Arts-Funding Organization, participants/beneficiaries of HCA funding, and local press.

● Other duties as assigned by the HCA Arts-Funding Organization Leadership.

Required Job Skills and Abilities:

● Ability to articulate and passionately communicate HCA’s mission, programs, and accomplishments.

● Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

● Familiarity with social media/press releases/promotion.

● Experience with photography is a plus.

● Ability to work effectively as a team member.

● Ability to work with minimal supervision, to make decisions, and to exercise judgment.

● Respectful of all people of socioeconomic background, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender identity.

● Openness and commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

● Appreciation of a wide range of art and cultural expression. It is helpful to have some study and/or personal experience with art and cultural practices.

● A general understanding and fondness for “creatives” is a plus.
